ACCESS partners with Sherm’s Food 4 Less and Thunderbird for Hunger Action Month
Medford, August 29, 2019: September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide effort to encourage communities to take action on the issue of hunger. ACCESS is partnering with Sherm’s Food 4 Less and Sherm’s Thunderbird to help fight hunger in Jackson County.
Throughout September, customers have a chance to donate $1, $5 or $10 at the checkout stand by using Hunger Action Month coupons found in the store and at the register. At the end of the month, the amount raised will be used to purchase healthy and nutritious foods for hungry local families and individuals. Every dollar donated during Hunger Action Month campaign at Food 4 Less or Thunderbird, your donations go directly to ACCESS to help your neighbors.
“Sherm’s has been so generous to ACCESS over the years, and we are grateful for their partnership on this initiative again this year. Last year, the $2600 raised from Hunger Action Month provided more than 10,000 meals to families and individuals in the Rogue Valley. This year we hope to double our goal, raising $5,000 to provide 20,000 meals.”, says ACCESS Nutrition Director Rachael Ward. One in six Jackson County residents are food insecure (being without access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food), and one in three are children.
Hunger Action Month is an excellent time of year to give back to your community and support your neighbors. Look for the display at Sherm’s Food 4 Less or Thunderbird or ask your cashier how you can donate to ACCESS during September. For more information visit accesshelps.com/hungeractionmonth
