VOLUNTEER WITH ACCESS’ COOKING SKILLS EDUCATION PROGRAM

ACCESS is holding a free training for home cooks who are interested in sharing their time and cooking skills as educators.

The training session, taught by an ACCESS Food Skills Educator, Barrett Gifford, will be held June 27th 6:00-8:00pm at the Olsrud Nutrition Center at 2020 Cardinal Ave, Medford.

The training offers a free mail, and training on how to offer a cooking demonstration along with details of the Cooking Skills Education program. The roles as a Cooking Skills Educator includes offering one cooking demonstration a month or joining a team of volunteers in teaching a community cooking class series. Trained Cooking Skills Educators share recipes made with fresh, locally-grown whole foods at a variety of community venues in Jackson County. Recipes are simple and are the building blocks for increasing proficiency in the kitchen.

AS A VOLUNTEER, YOU WILL:
Demonstrate basic cooking skills
Demonstrate cooking safety skills
Demonstrate how to use whole foods to create wonderful recipes
Provide ‘take home’ recipes
Empower the community
Help the community source rogue valley grown food

The Cooking Skills Educational Program teaches basic essential cooking techniques. Teach how to cook with whole fruit, vegetables and grains preferably Rogue Valley grown.
The program goal is to inspire participants to prepare their own meals from scratch while utilizing easy cooking methods, good food choices and to shop locally for wholesome foods.

Ways to get involved:
